July 4th Chicken BBQ

July 4th Chicken BBQ — TICKETS on sale soon!

The Sierra Philharmonic League brings the music of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra to Mormon Station Park to celebrate our nation's independence on the 4th of July. Each year, the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department gears up to sell chicken barbecue plates as a fundraiser for the GVFD. The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra performs at the Mormon Station Historical State Park. The festivites begin at 1:00 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase a Chicken BBQ lunch (Noon to 5 p.m.) from the Town of Genoa — BBQ is located at the Genoa Volunteer Fire Station across Main Street from the park.

Festivities include the world class Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, Jason Altiereri conducting, with TV personality John Tyson narrating the Gettysburg Address. And don’t miss:

  • Firing of Live Cannons with 1812 Overture!
  • Carson Chamber Singers
  • Reno Philharmonic Chorus
  • Chorus of the Comstock Quartet
  • John O’Neill, Roving Violinist
  • Percussion Petting Zoo
  • Doc-o and Squeaky the Clown
  • PLUS — DON’T FORGET THE SILENT AUCTION!

For more information about the event, visit the Reno Philharmonic's Website. The Genoa Conmection Newsletter also has information on the event. The Pops in the Park event is sponsored by the Sierra Philharmonic League.
