Welcome to the Genoa Bar and Saloon, Nevada's Oldest Thirst Parlor!
The Genoa Bar was built in 1853 as Livingston's Exchange, then renamed "Fettic's Exchange" in 1884. Bob and Betty Carver purchased the Genoa Bar in 1963 and ran it until they retired in 2000 and sold the bar to Willy and Cindy Webb.
The Genoa Bar still contains many of the original fixtures and many items are original to the building when it was first built in 1853. Many famous people have visited over the years. Among them, Mark Twain, Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, Carol Lombard, Clark Gable, Lauren Bacall, Richard Boone, Ron Howard, Red Skelton, Cliff Robertson, John Wayne, Walter Mathau, Clint Eastwood, James Caan, Kathy Bates, Rob Reiner, Richard Farnsworth, Raquel Welch and Ann-Margaret.

Genoa, pronounced (Juh-No-uh), is the oldest permanent settlement in Nevada founded in 1851 by a group of Mormon traders. The once family owned and operated General Store back in the 1880’s was a boarding house for Italian workers in Carson City. The building later became Dick’s Bar and in 1976 it was moved from Carson City to, 2299 Main Street, Genoa. In the 1880’s Genoa located on the Emigrant Trail at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains provided a resting place for travelers headed for California’s gold rush.
Today the historic town and the Genoa Country Store are destinations for tourists, bicyclists, runners, motorcyclists and casual Sunday drivers who wish to enjoy another piece of the beautiful Sierra Nevada / Lake Tahoe experience.

Trimmer Outpost is a beautiful facility in historic Genoa, nestled at the base of the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada in the captivating Carson Valley. At Trimmer Outpost, the restored late 1800s house and barn, a large yard and small arena accommodate birthday parties, special events and weddings. A miniature western rodeo arena next to the barn will treat kids to fun horse and pony rides during Cowboy and Cowgirl Birthday Parties.
We have a unique gift shop featuring "Made In Nevada" products as well as other area products. Every year just after Thanksgiving, we harvest silver tip fir trees, Ponderosa pine and other evergreen trees for our customers who love real Christmas trees. The trees are locally grown and selectively harvested to allow other trees to grow larger and to preserve and maintain a healthy forest.
