A number of special events occur throughout the year in Genoa. None are bigger than the Annual Candy Dance Arts & Crafts Faire which has over 300 craft and food vendors and draws thousands of people to Genoa during the two-day event.

The Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Faire is on the last full weekend of September each year. The dates for the 89th Annual Candy Dance Faire are Saturday and Sunday, September 25-26, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There is a per vehicle parking fee in designated lots, with free shuttles to and from the Candy Dance Faire. The locations of these lots are:
Foothill Road south of Genoa
Genoa Lane east of Genoa
Jacks Valley Road north of Genoa
Free parking will be available at Douglas High School and the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. Shuttle service to and from the Genoa will be available at these locations for a small fee per person (round trip). The shuttle runs during faire hours on both Saturday and Sunday.
Driving Tips
From Points North: From the Reno/Carson City area, take Highway 395 south to Genoa Lane. Turn right on Genoa Lane and continue on to Genoa. Due to limited and restricted parking on Jacks Valley Road, we recommend the Genoa Lane Parking area for most Faire visitors.
From Points West: From the north Lake Tahoe area, take Highway 50 to Highway 395 south to Jacks Valley Road. Turn right on Jacks Valley Road continue on to Genoa. From South Lake Tahoe, take the Kingsbury Grade (State Route 207) to Foothill Road. Turn left on Foothill and travel north to Genoa. Due to limited and restricted parking on Foothill Road, we recommend the Genoa Lane parking area for most Faire visitors.
From Points South: From Minden or Gardnerville, take Highway 395 north to Muller Lane. Turn left on Muller Lane then right on Foothill Road and continue on to Genoa. From Alpine County take Highway 88 north to Highway 395 north and follow the directions above. Due to limited and restricted parking on Foothill Road, we recommend the Genoa Lane parking area for most Faire visitors.
The 2010 Candy Dance Dinner & Dance will be held on Saturday evening from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Genoa Town Park on Nixon Street. A no-host bar will open at 4 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the Genoa Town Office, and local businesses in Genoa. Check back for locations and prices. All tickets are non-refundable.

This year's Candy Dance Band is David John and the Comstock Cowboys, with Special Guest Star, Wylie and the Wild West.
Fans of David John and the Comstock Cowboys will be glad to hear their favorites playing in the Genoa Park on Saturday, September 26. They perform original music, written by David John, and, in their unique style, they sing about Cowboys, Horses, Soldiers, The West, and Nature at it's grandest.
Special Guest Star Wylie and the Wild West. Wylie's wild antics will keep everyone entertained with a bit of yodeling thrown in to keep the smiles coming... Wylie and the Wild West keep your toes tapping and feet stomping for a real good time at the 2010 Candy Dance.

Wylie Gustafson, singer, rancher, horseman and the world-famous Yahoo ”yodeler,” leads the musical outfit known as The Wild West. Getting their start on Ronnie Mack’s Barn Dance at the Palomino Club in North Hollywood, Wylie and The Wild West have played thousands of gigs, delighting audiences around the world with their unique brand of good-time cowboy music. They've performed at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, The National Folk Festival, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, on A Prairie Home Companion, and have appeared more than 50 times on the Grand Ole Opry. Add to that an appearance by Wylie on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, with Wylie teaching Conan to yodel.
